OCP 2018峰会资料下载:互联网数据中心硬件风向标

在半个月前发表《Facebook如何将硬盘性能损失由90%降低到2%》时,我曾承诺大家将在网盘上分享OCPU.S. Summit 2018大会资料,如今官网的pdf文档断断续续放出来,总算是基本齐全了。

下面我还会将各个分会场的主题列表转帖过来,并从其中提取关键词和截图精选,以供读者朋友初步了解会议全貌。在这之前先吐点别的槽:)

 

一些“题外话”

 

记得早年曾有人称“IDF”为电脑硬件发展的风向标,那时候Intel开发者论坛还没有改名为后来的“信息技术峰会”。如今IDF不搞了,数据中心领域Facebook的OCP和国内的ODCC/天蝎则开始红火起来。

 

伴随着大型互联网公司的规模发展,在自主设计上的话语权增加,对传统服务器OEM厂商不算是好消息。有人可能看到HP退出微软数据中心项目,就是因为利润问题;无独有偶,国内百度的天蝎整机架最后基本上就剩一家OEM陪着玩,也是价格低到了别人都不愿做的地步。

 

如果在甲方眼里,乙方的产品都是同质化的,那样OEM要想接着做生意就只能沦为ODM的模式。传统服务器大厂显然不愿彻底沦为像Foxconn、广达等那样的角色。好在还有广大的传统行业客户,BAT也没有“一统天下”,许多互联网公司对硬件的把控能力还没有那么强,这时服务器品牌之间的差异在运维中就能体现出来了。

 

我还发现,本次OCP的议题中网络内容所占的比例明显增大。除了硬件上的差别,SDN、NFV等更多价值是在软件上,做高附加值产品的公司会过得舒服些吧,搞底层硬件的,只要容易被别人模仿/抄袭的就苦逼一些了。
